What IF???

I am writing this to all those who call themselves "Christians" (followers of Christ). We all tend to think that the faith we now practice is one that follows the model set by the First Century believers in Jesus. This book explores the question of how the Church has incorporated pagan originated practices into itself over the centuries - something that God has prohibited His people from doing in His Word.

Should God be pleased with us when we do what He forbids Israel from doing in His Word? Why should He speak loving and sweet words to us in our unbiblical practice when He sharply rebukes Israel for doing the same?

The Feasts of the Lord (Moedim) and their Fulfillment in Messiah Yeshua
by Bruce R. Booker

Publisher Comments

Yeshua said, "These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled." Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and He said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem (Luke 24:44-47)."

As proof of His credentials as Messiah, He fulfilled the TANAKH (Older Testament). He is the One of Whom the prophets spoke. He came to fulfill ALL the Feasts of the Lord (Moedim) found in Leviticus 23.

The Problem with Paul - Why the Epistles of the Apostle Paul Cannot be Used to Justify the Non-Observance of the Torah

We have been told that as believers in Jesus that since Jesus "fulfilled" the Law as found in the "Old Testament" and "did away with the Law" that we don't have to keep it. The purpose of this book is to share with believers in Jesus that we need to reconsider seriously what we have been taught and insure that what we have been taught by our pastors, professors, and fellow believers is indeed true and solidly in line with all of Scripture - or we may very well find ourselves in opposition to God!

Who is Israel??? Who is Israel?
by Bruce R. Booker

Is Israel simply a person, or a people? If a people, who does it consist of?

For many centuries now, the Church has proclaimed that it has replaced the physical descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and is now "spiritual Israel."

In this book, we examine the implications of that proclamation in the light of Scripture and history.

Our Expression of Love to the Lord

God wants His people to love Him. This is evident from the many passages of Scripture that says so. The question I raise in this book is not so much a question of, "Should we love God?" I believe most people of God can come to an agreement on this point, but rather of the question, "How is loving God expressed by us?"

I think this is where we would find a difference of understanding in our expression to Him. Many of us who love God desire to become intimate with Him and to express our love without reservation to Him. That should be all of our desire. From the Scriptures, we learn that God is a covenant-making God and He is the One who institutes the covenant we have with Him. He is the One who instituted the covenant of marriage in human institutions to give us an earthly touch of what it means to have a covenant with Him and He is the One who institutes the covenant we have with Him: which is likened to the marriage covenant! How then is that marriage covenant we have with God to be walked out? That is the essence of this book.

A Call to Holiness
by Bruce R. Booker

Publisher Comments

This book is a clarion call for Christians to come back to God's standards of holiness, instead of what we define them to be. It challenges the believer to re-examine the things that they have been taught and encourages them to be a catalyst for change within their local churches. For centuries, the Church has wandered away from the truths of God's Word and by so doing, is missing the blessings that could be hers. Soon, the Messiah will return and will want her to be "made ready" for His coming. This means that she has to remove herself from the worldly, paganistic ways and return back to the holiness that once was hers.

Argumentum Ex Silentio Argument From Silence
by Bruce R. Booker

Publisher Comments

Does the Silence of the Apostolic Writings Regarding Torah Observance by non-Jewish Believers in Jesus Imply That the Torah Does NOT Apply to Them?

"The argument from silence (also called argumentum ex silentio in Latin) is generally a conclusion based on silence or lack of contrary evidence. In the field of classical studies, it often refers to the deduction from the lack of references to a subject in the available writings of an author to the conclusion that he was ignorant of it."

In this book I seek to answer the following question that seems to plague the Messianic Community today: "Does the Torah apply to non-Jewish believers in Yeshua/Jesus?" We shall look at two examples of Christian Church practice that was evidently based upon Torah command, yet not commanded in the New Testament.

Dr. Brad H. Young, in his book, The Parables Jewish Tradition and Christian Interpretation, writes these words to us: "The Jewishness of Jesus is related to faith in the one God of Israel. Too often faith in Jesus completely overshadows the faith of Jesus." In short, our faith as believers in and disciples of Yeshua (Jesus) should be the same faith as Yeshua had when He walked on this earth! That is the meaning of true discipleship. This book seeks to lead us to have the faith of Yeshua so that we can become closer disciples of the Master.

There has been a great debate and dissention in the Messianic Movement for quite some time now. It has to do with non-Jewish believers embracing the Torah. Many Jewish believers in the Movement are opposed to Gentile observance of Torah, calling the Torah a "Jewish Identifier." But are they right in saying this? Perhaps the opposition is due to something else and these Torah-observing non-Jewish believers are doing something else to provoke such a reaction from their Jewish counterparts? Perhaps this is evidence of something that the non-Jewish believers in Yeshua should be doing: that is "provoking the Jews to jealousy." If it is evidenced in the reaction by our Jewish believing community, could it have the same effect on the Jewish non-believing community, too?
