What IF??? What IF???

I am writing this to all those who call themselves "Christians" (followers of Christ). We all tend to think that the faith we now practice is one that follows the model set by the First Century believers in Jesus. This book explores the question of how the Church has incorporated pagan originated practices into itself over the centuries - something that God has prohibited His people from doing in His Word.

Should God be pleased with us when we do what He forbids Israel from doing in His Word? Why should He speak loving and sweet words to us in our unbiblical practice when He sharply rebukes Israel for doing the same?

Dear Christian Friend Dear Christian Friend
by Bruce R. Booker

Publisher Comments

This book is written to Christians and gives a short apologetic on why believers in Christ should "walk as He walked" and keep the Torah; not out of a legalistic sense of works-righteousness, but out of loving gratitude toward a gracious God who paid for our offense against His Torah by the blood of our Lord Jesus. Same text as Dear Pastor, except directed to your Christian friends.

The History of Jewish Christianity

Written by the late Dr. Hugh J. Schonfield. This is a great book that has been out of print since 1936. It tracks the history of Jewish Christianity since the First Century and why it seems to have virtually disappeared until recent decades - reappearing as the Messianic Movement.

The Feasts of the Lord (Moedim) and their Fulfillment in Messiah Yeshua The Feasts of the Lord (Moedim) and their Fulfillment in Messiah Yeshua
by Bruce R. Booker

Publisher Comments

Yeshua said, "These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled." Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and He said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem (Luke 24:44-47)."

As proof of His credentials as Messiah, He fulfilled the TANAKH (Older Testament). He is the One of Whom the prophets spoke. He came to fulfill ALL the Feasts of the Lord (Moedim) found in Leviticus 23.

What is Beth Yeshua? What is Beth Yeshua?
by Bruce R. Booker

Publisher Comments

Beth Yeshua is a Torah-Pursuant Messianic Congregation. Since God is restoring the Torah to the Body of Messiah, many believers are responding by desiring to live holy and sanctified lives in a Hebraic context. The primary goal of Beth Yeshua is to see all of God's redeemed (Jewish and non-Jewish alike) "living holy and godly lives" (2 Peter 3:11) according to the whole of Scripture, including the Torah, since all Scripture, including the Torah, is "God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness..." (2 Timothy 3:16). Proclaiming the Good News of Yeshua, making disciples, or any other important work for the kingdom are natural byproducts of a Biblical, Spirit-led lifestyle in the Messiah.

The Fall Feasts of Israel The Fall Feasts of Israel
by Bruce R. Booker

Publisher Comments

Exerpt from "The Moedim of the Lord and their Fulfillment in Messiah Yeshua." Gods Word still stands and His "holy" days stand, too. Regardless of the perversions of man, His Word is an enduring testimony for His eternal truth. What we must do is to return to that which God established: back to the understanding of what is reflected in His creation and back to the practices found in His Holy Scripture.

We have been told that as believers in Jesus that since Jesus "fulfilled" the Law as found in the "Old Testament" and "did away with the Law" that we don't have to keep it. The purpose of this book is to share with believers in Jesus that we need to reconsider seriously what we have been taught and insure that what we have been taught by our pastors, professors, and fellow believers is indeed true and solidly in line with all of Scripture - or we may very well find ourselves in opposition to God!

Who is Israel??? Who is Israel?
by Bruce R. Booker

Publisher Comments

Is Israel simply a person, or a people? If a people, who does it consist of?

For many centuries now, the Church has proclaimed that it has replaced the physical descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and is now "spiritual Israel."

In this book, we examine the implications of that proclamation in the light of Scripture and history.

Torah
Our Expression of Love to the Lord Torah Our Expression of Love to the Lord
by Bruce R. Booker

Publisher Comments

God wants His people to love Him. This is evident from the many passages of Scripture that says so.

The question I raise in this book is not so much a question of, "Should we love God?" I believe most people of God can come to an agreement on this point, but rather of the question, "How is loving God expressed by us?"

I think this is where we would find a difference of understanding in our expression to Him. Many of us who love God desire to become intimate with Him and to express our love without reservation to Him. That should be all of our desire.

From the Scriptures, we learn that God is a covenant-making God and He is the One who institutes the covenant we have with Him. He is the One who instituted the covenant of marriage in human institutions to give us an earthly touch of what it means to have a covenant with Him and He is the One who institutes the covenant we have with Him: which is likened to the marriage covenant!

How then is that marriage covenant we have with God to be walked out? That is the essence of this book.

A short apologetic to pastors and teachers as to why Torah is applicable to the lives of believers in Jesus today. This is also a good book for Christians to better understand the place of Torah in their own lives as believers.

War of the Worldviews Series Outline: Greek vs. Hebraic Worldview in the Church

Since Alexander the Great came and conquered the Holy Land, the people of Israel have never been the same. Greek thought came into the Land and a group of Jews became Hellenized. Many adopted a world-view contrary to that which they were born: the Greek World-view (Hellenized Jews). Others retained their Hebraic foundation (Maccabees). As a result, a war erupted in the Land between those who sought Greek identity and practice and those who desired to remain faithful to the Torah. This was is known as the Maccabean War. In the end, the Maccabees won the battle, but the war is still being fought - this time in the Church. This book and 5 Sermon MP3 CD Series (required) develops how this happened in the Church which was once a Hebraic led faith; from a Hebraic world-view.

As with the War of the Worldviews Series, this sequel also has a MP3 audio that must be downloaded from the Beth Yeshua Messianic Fellowship website: Beth Yeshua Sermons Website.

In this Series, Rabbi Bruce R. Booker explains why it is so difficult to communicate the Hebraic world-view of the Bible to our Christian brothers and sisters.

The Rocket: A Modern-Day Parable
The Rocket: A Modern Day Parable

by Bruce R. Booker

Publisher Comments

As with a rocket that is off its correct trajectory, so is the present-day Church. This book starts with a Modern-Day parable comparing the Church to a rocket blasted off into space.

The truth is: the farther away the Church goes from its' Hebraic roots, the more relativistic it becomes.

Please allow me a little latitude here: This is a short Non-Messianic Book containing some poetry I wrote when I was a teenager. Thank you! Hope you enjoy it!

Whatever was I thinking back then???

Poems I Wrote When I was Young

Publisher Comments

Over the years, from time-to-time, I would run into the poetry and songs I created when I was just in my teens and early twenties. I thought to myself, "Probably nobody would be interested in these - except me. Why do anything with them?"

Well, I decided to print them anyway; why lose them to posterity?

A Call to Holiness A Call to Holiness
by Bruce R. Booker

Recommended

Publisher Comments

This book is a clarion call for Christians to come back to God's standards of holiness, instead of what we define them to be. It challenges the believer to re-examine the things that they have been taught and encourages them to be a catalyst for change within their local churches.

For centuries, the Church has wandered away from the truths of God's Word and by so doing, is missing the blessings that could be hers. Soon, the Messiah will return and will want her to be "made ready" for His coming.

This means that she has to remove herself from the worldly, paganistic ways and return back to the holiness that once was hers.

The Lie The Lie
by Bruce R. Booker

Publisher Comments

You have heard THE LIE. It is a dark shadow that has loomed over the horizon of time. Sometimes it hovers as a faint mist; sometimes it gathers in dark, angry clouds. In one group it appears as a religious cause; in another it calls itself the saving of society. Whatever its form, anti-Semitism is still a LIE. Originated and spread by the LIAR, Satan, it is a plot to discredit God and destroy His Chosen People, the Jews. You may not think you are susceptible, but THE LIE can be subtle. This book can help you to recognize it for what it is.

Through this book, Dr. Booker desires to awaken Christians to the evil of anti-Semitism, both inside and outside the Church. He exhorts believers to take a strong stand against any occurrence of anti-Semitism and not to ignore its dangers. In doing so, they are blessing Abraham, the father of our common faith, through his descendants, the Jewish people.

Hey! What's with the Beanie? Hey! What's with the Beanie?
by Bruce R. Booker

Publisher Comments

As the leader of a Messianic congregation, I have often been asked by Christians why I wear a "beanie" especially in the light of what the Apostle Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 11:4 where he seems to be stating that a man should not have his head covered while praying or prophesying, leading to the church tradition of males not having their head covered.

But, is this church tradition biblical?

After answering this question numerous times, I felt it useful to write a short book on the subject. This manuscript is the result of that decision.

So, it is in this spirit that I write this book.

Argumentum Ex Silentio Argument From Silence
Argumentum Ex Silentio Argument From Silence
by Bruce R. Booker

Publisher Comments

Does the Silence of the Apostolic Writings Regarding Torah Observance by non-Jewish Believers in Jesus Imply That the Torah Does NOT Apply to Them?

"The argument from silence (also called argumentum ex silentio in Latin) is generally a conclusion based on silence or lack of contrary evidence. In the field of classical studies, it often refers to the deduction from the lack of references to a subject in the available writings of an author to the conclusion that he was ignorant of it."

In this book I seek to answer the following question that seems to plague the Messianic Community today: "Does the Torah apply to non-Jewish believers in Yeshua/Jesus?" We shall look at two examples of Christian Church practice that was evidently based upon Torah command, yet not commanded in the New Testament.

Depart from Me... "Depart from Me"
by Bruce R. Booker

Publisher Comments

Many will say to Me on that day, `Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?'"And then I will declare to them, `I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'

In that statement we discover the criteria of entry into the Kingdom. Do we, as the Body of Christ meet the criteria of entering His Kingdom?

The Lunacy of the Lunar Sabbath The Lunacy of the Lunar Sabbath
by Bruce R. Booker

Publisher Comments

It is God who sets apart and sanctifies the Sabbath day. He determines when it is.

Today there is a group of believers targeting Messianics called "Lunar Sabbatarians" who teach that the weekly Sabbaths are "reset" every month to coincide with the new moons.

According to the "Lunar Sabbatarians," Jonathan David Brown was the first sabbath keeper in this century to begin the practice of counting the Sabbath from the New Moon day rather than using the modern seven day week.

This man is a convicted white supremacist: In 1992, Brown was sentenced to a Federal prison term for activities related to a white supremacist organization, which he calls his "Federal Sabbatical."

It was after his release from prison that Jonathan David Brown published the original study promoting the belief that "Yahweh ordained the observance of lunar Sabbaths." It is entitled Keeping Yahweh's Appointments. Brown claims to have arrived at this understanding by "prophetic revelation." We shall explore this issue in this book.

"We Have the Mind of Messiah..."

Publishers Comments

Dr. Brad H. Young, in his book, The Parables Jewish Tradition and Christian Interpretation, writes these words to us: "The Jewishness of Jesus is related to faith in the one God of Israel. Too often faith in Jesus completely overshadows the faith of Jesus."

In short, our faith as believers in and disciples of Yeshua (Jesus) should be the same faith as Yeshua had when He walked on this earth! That is the meaning of true discipleship.

This book seeks to lead us to have the faith of Yeshua so that we can become closer disciples of the Master.

"A Provocation to Jealousy"
by Bruce R. Booker

Recommended

Publishers Comments

There has been a great debate and dissention in the Messianic Movement for quite some time now. It has to do with non-Jewish believers embracing the Torah.

Many Jewish believers in the Movement are opposed to Gentile observance of Torah, calling the Torah a "Jewish Identifier."

But are they right in saying this?

Perhaps the opposition is due to something else and these Torah-observing non-Jewish believers are doing something else to provoke such a reaction from their Jewish counterparts?

Perhaps this is evidence of something that the non-Jewish believers in Yeshua should be doing: that is "provoking the Jews to jealousy."

If it is evidenced in the reaction by our Jewish believing community, could it have the same effect on the Jewish non-believing community, too?

Secrets of the Secrets of the "Sacred Name" Cult
by Bruce R. Booker

Publishers Comments

I have been blessed to have been in the "Messianic Movement" as it is called for over 20 years and have seen much good in it, particularly where it comes to outreach to Jewish people with the Gospel of the Messiah and the observance of Torah.

There is a "Movement" infiltrating the "Messianic Movement" that has brought about division in many Messianic congregations and that is the "Sacred Name" Movement, a Movement that insists that unless one calls upon the Name of the Lord - however they pronounce it - that one cannot be saved.

This book explores the subject.

In the Beginning In the Beginning
by Bruce R. Booker

Publishers Comments

The Bible in Proverbs 3 says: 19 The LORD by wisdom founded the earth, By understanding He established the heavens. 20 By His knowledge the deeps were broken up And the skies drip with dew. God created all things.

Today many people would like to believe that this Universe, including all life, was all created by random chance after a "Big Bang" and that the disparity between the Bible and science is so great that it cannot be bridged or reconciled.

Yet, the very fact that there is such organization in the entire Universe speaks to me of an "Intelligent Designer," who I address by the Name He gives Himself in the Holy Bible, "His Word," Yeshua (Jesus) God Incarnate.

God gave us His Word for a reason. He wanted us to know how He thinks, what He feels, and how He created organization out of chaos. And He gave us minds to study it out.

Thoughts from the congregation Leader Thoughts from the Congregation Leader
by Bruce R. Booker

Publishers Comments

Over the years I have written articles for our congregation's website. I entitled the page from which readers could link to the articles, "Thoughts from the Congregation Leader" which, not surprisingly, is the title of this book.

Many people come to the site simply to read the articles to see what I have to say about "whatever."

In Jewish humor it is said that wherever you get two Jews together, you will have at least three different opinions. To no one's surprise, I have an opinion on lots of things. This book compiles many of the articles I have placed on the website over the years.

I hope you enjoy the reading.
